About Ship's Company
We develop original games and restore
older titles for today's hardware.
We're developing two strategy games,
each with a different approach to command.

About Ship's Company
Build a fortress and draft an army for a siege fought above ground and through the tunnels below. Each round gives you a chance to change your plan.
About Troles vs GubberlinsPorts & restoration
When source code is lost, we use decompilation and reverse engineering to recover how a game works. We then rebuild its systems for current hardware using the original executable and game data as references.
Our experience includes 16-bit DOS games and early 3D engines built before DirectX 8 and 9.
From executable to modern build
Recovered code and data tell us how the original worked. We use that evidence to rebuild its systems in a current engine.
How we restore a gameTrace combat and movement through the executable. Reconstruct mission scripts and timing, including behaviour that was never documented.
Read proprietary level and media formats. Build conversion tools that preserve how the original resources connect, so a current engine can use them.
Implement recovered systems in a current engine, with native C++ where needed. Keep simulation timing independent of display refresh.
Check reconstructed routines against reference behaviour and replay recorded orders. Test the assembled game to catch changes the individual checks miss.
Tell us which game you have in mind and what materials survive.
The studio
Samoyed Studios is an independent game design studio. We're making Ship's Company and Troles vs Gubberlins alongside our work on older games.
Both sides of the work involve close attention to how a game behaves. A crew member's station can shape a whole strategy game. In a restoration, an animation frame can explain why an attack lands when it does.
We enjoy working through those details, whether we're designing the rules or figuring out how the original developers made them work.
